A red carpet debut? Here’s what Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have on their schedules
Contrary to what those paparazzi vacation photos from the Bahamas suggested, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are not just lazing about in the sun for the next few weeks before she heads back out on tour.
For one thing, thanks to tabloid coverage, we know they’re working out while staying at her Beverly Hills mansion.
We also know both their calendars are packed — the release of her new album, his music festival in Bonner Springs, and a possible red carpet appearance that her fans have been trying to manifest for months.
In case you’re keeping track, here’s what’s coming up for both.
Monday: iHeartRadio Music Awards
Swift’s fans are still waiting to see the couple walk a red carpet together. (Kelce was busy with the Chiefs for the Golden Globes and Grammy Awards.) Could it happen here?
With nine nominations, Swift is the top nominee for the 12th annual IHeart Radio awards, which will air live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Her nominations include Song of the Year (“Cruel Summer”), Artist of the Year and TikTok Bop of the Year, also for “Cruel Summer.”
The awards recognize the most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio and the iHeartRadio app in 2023.
Earlier this month Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, won iHeartRadio’s Podcast of the Year award for their “New Heights” program.
Swift attended the ceremony last year, where she won the Innovator Award and encouraged her fans to “give yourself permission to fail.”
She also made a strong, Grace Jones fashion statement in a hooded jumpsuit covered in blue and green crystals by French fashion house Alexandre Vauthier Couture.
Fox will air the show live from 7 to 9 p.m. CT on Monday. The “Yellow Carpet” action will be shown live beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT on iHeartRadio’s YouTube, Twitch and Facebook accounts. (But this isn’t the red carpet appearance Swifties are yearning for.)
April 11: ‘New Heights’ goes live
Kelce and his brother, former Eagles center Jason Kelce, will bring their “New Heights” podcast to their alma mater, the University of Cincinnati. It’ll take place at Nippert Stadium, where the brothers played football for the Bearcats. The brothers recorded their first live “New Heights” podcast last year in Kansas City.
April 19: ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ album release
This is the day Swifties have been losing sleep over since Swift announced last month at the Grammys that she has a new album coming.
“Tortured Poets Department” will be her 11th studio album.
As excited as fans are about that, they’re still left waiting for the release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version”), a re-recording of the original. They hope it will come this year.
Swift made Grammy history this year by winning album of the year for “Midnights,” making her the only artist to win the award four times.
May 6: Met Gala
If Swift and Kelce walk the most prestigious red carpet of the year together, heaven help us. Can you even imagine the sonic sound of all those Swifties screaming?
The couple haven’t been seen on a red carpet together yet. Actually, Swifties note that she’s never walked a red carpet with a boyfriend.
She’s familiar with this red carpet at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, always studded with celebrities of the moment — musicians, movie stars, athletes. Patrick and Brittany Mahomes debuted last year.
Swift has walked it six times. She co-chaired the event in 2016 when she wore an eyebrow-raising metallic mini by Louis Vuitton that fashion observers considered robot chic. Her hair was short and bleach blond, her lips dark red.
This year’s event is called “Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion” with a dress code theme of “The Garden of Time,” which seems perfect for Swift’s whimsical tastes.
May 9: Back on the road
Swift resumes her Eras Tour with a four-concert stand in Paris, which brings us to one of the key reasons her fans like the Traylor pairing: They support each other’s work.
Swift attended 13 Chiefs games this past season, including a quick trip from Tokyo to Las Vegas to watch the Super Bowl in February. Kelce has traveled to Singapore, Australia and Argentina to see her perform.
After the Super Bowl, where the world watched the two hug and kiss to celebrate the Chiefs’ second-in-a-row win, insiders told People magazine and various publications that Kelce and Swift “are making plans for the summer and are excited to travel together in Europe when Taylor takes her tour there.”
Her tour will stick around Europe into August, with stops in Spain, Portugal, the UK, Germany, Poland, Austria and more.
May 18: Kelce Jam
Following up last year’s event during the NFL Draft in KC, the music festival returns to Azura Amphitheater. Performers have yet to be announced, but that could come as early as next week.
Don’t expect Swift to be there. She’ll be performing that night in Sweden.
Mid-May to mid-June: Back to football
After the NFL Draft in late April, the Chiefs will hold three-day Organized Team Activities each week for three weeks, then will have a mandatory minicamp. The OTAs will be May 20-22, May 28-30 and June 4-7 with the minicamp scheduled for June 11-13.
The OTAs begin with meetings and conditioning the first week, and Kelce last year joined Mahomes in Texas for a pass-catching camp. Week two involves on-field instruction and drills, followed in the third week by non-contact team drills. The minicamp is a slimmed down version of training camp.
Mid-June: Ring ceremony
No, not that kind of ring. Stop it.
On the final day of minicamp last year, the Chiefs players, coaches and staff received their Super Bowl LVII championship rings at a ceremony in Union Station. It seems likely they’d get a LVIII ring at around the same time.
Third week of June: Tight End University
Kelce is co-creator of Tight End University, which welcomes players at that position from around the NFL for three days of teaching and drills. The dates haven’t been set, but the last two years it’s been the third week of June. Last year, Kelce and the other Tight End U players made and swapped friendship bracelets, providing our first hint that he was a fan of Taylor Swift.
Late July: Training camp
The Chiefs will gather for training camp in St. Joseph as they prepare for the 2024 season and take aim at becoming the first team in NFL history to win a third straight Super Bowl.
Late August: Eras Tour wraps up in Europe
Swift will perform six shows at London’s Wembley Stadium through Aug. 20, before she has another break of two months. The tour resumes in the United States on Oct. 18 in Miami with concerts there, in New Orleans and Indianapolis before she heads to Toronto on Nov. 14, then moves to Vancouver for a few shows in December.
Which means she will be available for cheering duty as the Chiefs begin their run at football glory.
