Road closures and where to find lost items after Kansas City Chiefs rally shooting
Chiefs fans ran for their lives as shots rang out around Union Station after the Chiefs Super Bowl parade Wednesday afternoon.
At least one person died, and area hospitals are treating more than 20 victims, including children. Three people are in custody, the Kansas City Police Department said.
Some streets remained closed on Thursday afternoon, Kansas City posted on social media. The blocked-off streets are Pershing Road from Main to Kessler and Kessler Road up to the Penn Valley Park baseball diamonds.
Downtown’s streets are open, including the rest of the parade route, KCPD spokesperson Alayna Gonzalez wrote Wednesday night.
If you lost a cooler, chair or other item at the event, the city put up a lost-and-found tent in Washington Square Park. Located off of Grand in the east side of the park, the station will be open until 7 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the coming days.
If you lost any belongings in the area surrounding Union Station, it might be processed as evidence. Gonzalez wrote Wednesday that detectives are working to return items to their owners.
Witnesses can call the Kansas City Police Department’s dedicated hotline: 816-413-3477. Additionally, those with photos or video footage of Wednesday’s events can submit them to the FBI on the bureau’s website.
