9 children being treated for gunshot wounds after Chiefs rally in Kansas City: hospital
Update: Hospital officials with Children’s Mercy said Wednesday evening that 12 patients were treated, including 11 children. Nine children suffered gunshot wounds and were expected to fully recover.
At least 9 children are being treated for gunshot wounds following a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl victory rally near Union Station.
Children’s Mercy said it is treating 12 patients from the shooting.
Lisa Augustine, a hospital spokesperson, said 11 of those patients are children and 9 of them have gunshot wounds.
Police said Wednesday that up to 21 people have been injured in the shooting, but an exact number has not been determined.
At least one person is confirmed dead, according to Kansas City police.
