Pedestrian dies days after being hit while getting off KCATA bus in Kansas City
A man has died after being critically injured Saturday night in a Kansas City hit-and-run that happened while he was exiting a KCATA bus.
The bus was headed southbound on the west side of Hardesty Avenue at 9:57 p.m., just south of East 18th Street, according to a news release from the Kansas City Police Department.
After exiting the bus, the pedestrian attempted to cross to the east side of the street when he was hit by a “dark colored SUV or van,” that then continued south and headed west on 23rd Street. The man died of his injuries around 10 p.m. Monday, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, a police spokesman.
The victim has not yet been publicly identified.
This is the 13th fatality crash of 2024 in Kansas City, according to KCPD.
