A pedestrian died after a truck accidentally ran her over while backing out of a driveway.

Officers responded around 5:53 p.m. to a home in the 2700 block of Harrison Street, according to Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman with the Kansas City Police Department.

A Chevy Silverado driver didn’t see the female pedestrian behind his truck and struck and ran her over as he was backing out of the driveway.

Before the crash, the pedestrian was talking to a tow driver because her vehicle had broken down. The Chevy driver saw the situation and was trying to move his truck so that the tow driver could easily access the vehicle.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival. The Chevy driver was not injured.
