An 18-year-old pedestrian died following a crash Sunday on a Kansas City, Kansas highway.

Andrew W. Martsolf was walking in the right shoulder of eastbound Interstate 70 just before U.S. 69 Highway around 2:25 p.m., while a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado drove in the right lane of the highway, according to a crash log from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Martsolf walked in front of the Chevrolet as it approached him. The driver tried to avoid him, but hit Martsolf on the passenger side, the crash log said.

Just before 5 p.m., Martsolf was pronounced dead. The driver was not injured.
