Male cyclist dead following crash at major Olathe intersection Thursday morning: Police
A cyclist is dead following a crash Thursday morning in Olathe.
Officers responded around 5:49 a.m. to the area of Southbound Lone Elm Road and 159th Street, where a sport utility vehicle had crashed into a bicycle, said Sgt. John Moncayo, a spokesman with the Olathe Police Department.
The cyclist, a 28-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 64-year-old woman, remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
Southbound Lone Elm at 159th is closed and traffic will be diverted eastbound and westbound, police said on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 7:25 a.m. The roadway will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time.
