Missing 5-year-old girl from Kansas City’s East Side has been found safe: police

Update: Amelia Marek, who was reported missing Monday night, has been found safe and has been reunited with family, a police spokesman said shortly before noon Tuesday.

A 5-year-old girl last seen Monday night in a neighborhood on Kansas City’s East Side is missing and police are asking for help finding her, a police spokesman said.

Amelia Marek was last seen about 9:30 p.m. Monday near East 17th Street and Bennington Avenue in the East Blue Valley neighborhood, said Capt. Corey Carlisle, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department. The area is south of East Truman Road and west of Interstate 435.

Amelia is 4-feet tall and weighs 45 pounds. She has brown eyes. A description of what she was last seen wearing was not available.

Anyone who has seen her is asked to call 911.
