Seven-year-old Kansas City boy dies in wrong-way crash in St. Charles County

A seven-year-old Kansas City boy died following a crash early Saturday in St. Charles County.

Officials responded around 3:31 a.m. to the crash on eastbound Interstate 70 just east of David Hoekel Parkway, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

A Hyundai Venue was traveling the wrong direction when it struck a Ford Explorer head on.

The seven-year-old boy, a passenger in the Ford, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Another passenger in the Ford and its driver, both 42, were brought to the hospital with minor and moderate injuries, respectively.

The Hyundai driver, a 24-year-old man from Wichita, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
