Motorcyclist, 18, dead after crash with van Saturday in Olathe, police say

An 18-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash with a van Saturday afternoon in Olathe, police said.

Officers responded around 4:44 p.m. to the area of West 151st Street and South Greenwood Street, where they found the motorcyclist unresponsive, according to a news release from the Olathe Police Department.

The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but officials pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police said the driver and passenger of the van were not injured.

Police closed 151st Street in both directions between Greenwood and Pflumm Road for several hours Saturday night.
