One person has died in a two vehicle head-on crash that has shut down Missouri 291 highway north of Harrisonville Wednesday morning, the Missouri Highway Patrol on social media.

The crash occurred about 6:30 a.m. on Missouri 291 near South Home Farm Road in Cass County, the highway patrol said on Twitter.

A preliminary investigation revealed that one car crossed the center line on a curve at Home Farm Road and collided head on with another vehicle.

“One person has died, one is in critical condition, and the other has a disabling injury,” the highway patrol said.

The highway was shut down in both directions and traffic was being rerouted around the area, the highway patrol said. The highway is expected to be closed for about an hour while the crash is investigated.

Further details were not immediately available.
