You might want to push any outdoor activities to the top of the the to-do list this Memorial Day weekend as weather conditions will be ideal for the unofficial kick off to summer in Kansas City, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunny skies, dry conditions and warmer than normal temperatures are expect to prevail across the Kansas City area, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will start in the low 80s on Friday and heat up to near 90 degrees by Memorial Day. Typically, temperatures are around 80 degrees this time of year in Kansas City.

For those headed to the Lake of the Ozarks, the forecast is calling for sunny skies and warm conditions. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s on Friday, gradually warming throughout the holiday weekend.

On Memorial Day, it will be hot with temperatures in the upper 80s, according to the National Weather Service in Springfield. Overnight temperatures will be in the 50s.

But before the weekend festivities begin, the Kansas City area will see the chance of much needed rain. Scattered rain showers with isolated thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Thursday morning.

No severe storms are expected, but there could be brief periods of heavy rains and a few rumbles of thunder, according to the weather service.

Looking into next week, muggy conditions are expected arrive Tuesday, according to the weather service.
