See this Kansas Victorian-style home being sold by original owner for nearly $1 million
A unique Victorian-style home in Bonner Springs with an intriguing history has come onto the market for the first time.
The property, which sits on nearly nine acres of land, was built by its current owner, Judy Vickers, and her late husband in 1986. Vickers incorporated historic elements like leaded windows and reclaimed architectural materials she salvaged from Kansas City’s stockyards.
“I love the sunroom with the tin ceiling. I like the way it sits up here in the woods. Once the trees leaf out it’s really private and nice,” Vickers said.
After raising her family in the home, Vickers decided to convert it into a bed and breakfast in 1996. The Back in Thyme bed and breakfast catered to travelers who sought a safe and comfortable alternative to traditional hotel accommodations.
Over the years, the business welcomed repeat customers and hosted numerous weddings and community gatherings. Vickers said that in recent years, the rise of Airbnb and other short-term rental platforms has impacted the success of her business.
“I’ve always loved the house and loved sharing it. I almost consider it a landmark because there was so much interest when it was being built,” Vickers said.
The house has been for sale since October 2022 and the current asking price is $950,000. You can find the listing online here.
