Authorities investigating death of Jackson County inmate on Friday night, sheriff says
Authorities are investigating the Friday night death of an inmate at the Jackson County Detention Center, according to a statement from the sheriff.
Emergency medical services arrived at the detention center that evening to assist an unresponsive inmate, Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté said on Twitter Saturday.
The inmate was transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
An investigation was opened, as is “standard procedure” in these instances, Forté said.
No further information about the person’s death has been released.
