Pedestrian struck and killed Saturday night in Independence, police say
Police are investigating after a car struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday night in Independence.
A Mercedes Benz hit a pedestrian around 7:30 p.m. when it was traveling eastbound on U.S. 40 Highway west of Washington Avenue, according to Independence police.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
An investigation is underway, and the driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene and is cooperating, police said.
