Firefighters respond to three apartment fires within an hour around Kansas City
Firefighters battled three different apartment blazes that started within the same hour Thursday morning in Kansas City, according to officials.
Several people were displaced from the apartment fires, which were reported between around 4 a.m. and 4:50 a.m., but no injuries have been reported, according to Jason Spreitzer, a spokesman with the Kansas City Fire Department.
Firefighters first responded at 3:59 a.m. to a four-plex apartment building in the 11300 block of North Oak Trafficway.
Crews from a fire station a block away responded within minutes, Spreitzer said, and firefighters used multiple hoses to extinguish the blaze.
Four adults were displaced in the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Firefighters were later called to a second-story apartment fire at 4:37 a.m. in the 5400 block of Smart Avenue, Spreitzer said. Crews put out the fire quickly and contained it to the unit it originated from.
The Red Cross is assisting a family of three. No injuries have been reported, but the fire is still under investigation.
A third fire was reported at 4:48 a.m. in the 700 block of East 30th Street, where crews found fire showing from an apartment building, Spreitzer said. Crews used multiple hoses to put out the fire and contained it to one unit.
A family of two was displaced by the fire and is being assisted by the Red Cross.
The cause of the fires remains under investigation. Officials said the incidents are not related.
