Stretches of Mission Road in Johnson County to be closed this year for Evergy project
Mission Road from 89th Street to 90th Terrace in Leawood will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Monday due to an Evergy project.
Last Friday, the contractor ran into bedding from a nearby utility as they began installation work on Mission Road, Leawood public works supervisor Kristen Love said in a news release.
The road became undermined and was shut down. A repair was made that evening, but staff from Leawood and Prairie Village decided it would be safer to close the road in the vicinity of the construction. Drivers should follow the posted detour routes.
Officials said they anticipate the section to reopen at 5 p.m. Oct. 28.
As the project progresses, other sections will be closed in chunks. The project stretches from 79th Street to 90th Terrace. The closures are expected to last about three weeks at each location, Love said, and to continue through the end of the year.
