One juvenile dead, another injured after vehicle hits tree Monday in Johnson County
One minor is dead and another was hospitalized after the vehicle they were in hit a tree Monday night in Stilwell, according to officials.
Sheriff’s deputies responded around 6:40 p.m. when a vehicle left the road and struck a tree at the intersection of Mission Road and 171st Street, Shelby Colburn, a spokeswoman with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release.
The passenger was killed, and the driver is in the hospital, Colburn said. Both are juveniles, she said.
Around 11:20 p.m., the roadway reopened.
The investigation is ongoing. Officials have not released the names of the passenger or driver because both individuals are minors.
