Three hospitalized following wrong-way, two-vehicle crash in Kansas City on Saturday

Three people were hospitalized, one with critical injuries, Saturday morning following a wrong-way crash between two cars in southeast Kansas City, police said.

Police responded just before 1 a.m. to a collision with critical injuries near the intersection of 117th Street and Holmes Road, said Officer Donna Drake, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department.

A silver Ford F-150 was traveling the wrong direction at high speed in the north lanes of Holmes Road. A black GMC Envoy then turned onto the northbound lanes of Holmes Road before it crashed with the truck.

The collision caused the truck to be flipped over onto its roof. The truck’s driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver and passenger of the SUV were also hospitalized and were both in serious condition.
