3 American Bullies stolen from Raytown animal shelter; police continue search for dogs
Three dogs, all American Bullies, were stolen from a Raytown animal shelter over the weekend, authorities said.
“It hurts my heart to share that our shelter was broken into and dogs were stolen,” Midwest Animal ResQ posted Saturday on Facebook.
At least one of the dogs recently had surgery and all three need immediate medication for an infection, shelter leaders wrote.
“The police are working diligently to help recover our stolen animals, but we can use the community’s help,” the post read. “Please keep an eye out for these dogs. They are NOT in safe hands!”
The shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street. Raytown police in a news release said they responded to an alarm going off at the shelter at about 5:35 a.m. Saturday. Once there, they found the back door of the shelter forced open.
Shelter leaders are asking the public for help finding the dogs. Anyone with information on the canines’ whereabouts is asked to the Raytown Police Department at 816-737-6020 or the shelter at 816-919-1364.
