Three children injured after car crashes into horse and buggy southeast of Kansas City
Six people were injured, including three children, when a car struck a horse and buggy Saturday afternoon in a town about 60 miles southeast of Kansas City, according to officials.
Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers responded around 1:45 p.m. Saturday after a 2003 Mercury struck the back of a horse and buggy at the intersection of Missouri Highway 58 and Southwest 1001 Road, according to the incident report.
The crash seriously injured three children ages 3, 5 and 7, from Holden who were in the buggy. They were transported to University Health, University of Kansas Medical Center and Children’s Mercy Hospital, respectively, according to the highway patrol.
Ada Gingerich, 33, another passenger in the horse and buggy, was transported to University Health with moderate injuries. The driver of the horse and buggy, 38-year-old Truman Gingerich, was also taken to University Health with minor injuries, according to the report.
The driver of the Mercury, 71-year-old Glenn Gilbert, refused treatment for minor injuries at the scene, according to the highway patrol.
