The Kansas City Symphony’s annual Memorial Day celebration and commemoration was canceled the past two years due to the COVID-19. But the Bank of America Celebration at the Station, which is capped by a fireworks display over the Liberty Memorial, picked up where it left off.
Music Director Michael Stern led the orchestra with special guest Kansas City native Oleta Adams. Stern had described the program as “ceremonial, festive and reverent.”
The free concert included fireworks and patriotic music. This year’s theme was “unity” and provided a way to honor the men and women who have served the country and for people to come together in increasingly turbulent and divisive time for the nation.
