The Kansas City weather is starting to kick up the heat, which means it’s time to find fun and affordable ways to stay cool.
There are a bunch of local pools and spray parks that will be open for the 2022 season, many starting after Memorial Day.
If you’re looking for more than a fun weekend and would like to spend the summer helping families enjoy the pools in Kansas City, you could consider becoming a lifeguard.

Here’s a quick look at what pools and parks will be operating for the 2022 season and when they will be open.
Kansas City Pools
KC Parks pools will be open this summer from June 11 until July 31. The city’s two water parks will be open from June 11 until Aug. 21. Many of the pools require a small admission fee, and a number of the pools only take cash. Regular one-time admission for most pools will run you about $4. Pools that will be in operation this season include:

The Arbor Villa Park pool, Ashland Square pool, Jarboe pool and Swope Park will be closed for the 2022 season. Arbor, Shaland and Jarboe pools will be permanently closing due to an outdated pool system that can pose a health risk to swimmers, according to KC Parks and Recreation.
Swope Park will be closed due to its old age. The city will be evaluating the pool for repairs and making plans for future operations.
KCMO Spray Parks
Kansas City’s spray parks are all free and will be open daily starting Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend. Sprayground parks in the city will be open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Summit Waves in Lee’s Summit will be making its grand opening for the season on May 28, right in time for the Memorial Day holiday. Lee’s summit residents can pay a $9 fee for admission, while non-residents’ admission will cost $12 to enter the water park. Season passes are also on sale, to learn more visit here. Shawnee
Splash Cove in Shawnee will also be open on May 28. Shawnee residents pay $6 admission fee, while non-residents will pay $10. The water park will remain open until Aug. 7. Season pool passes can be bought or renewed on the city’s website.

Olathe
Olathe pools and water parks will also be open as early as May 28. The cost of daily admission for regular guests is between $7 and $12 but is typically less for seniors and children under 3 years old. To apply to be a lifeguard in Olathe, visit here.

Lenexa Pools will be open on May 28. The cost of admission for these outdoor pools will range from $5 to $8 per person. Seniors pay $1 and babies under 2 years old are free.
