Cheers to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum with these new special edition beers

St. Louis-area based brewery Main & Mill released its new series inspired by Negro Leagues Baseball this week.

The Negro Leagues Celebration series will feature specialty beer cans donned with the faces of legendary baseball players. The portraits on the Main & Mill tall boys will be the work of artist Graig Kreindler, according to a Facebook post from Main & Mill.

The brewery will be donating 20% of the proceeds from every can sold to support the featured player’s families and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

The first four-pack of specialty beers will feature Hall of Famer Satchel Paige. Each beer in the four pack will have a different Kreindler painting of Paige during his time on four different teams, according to the Facebook page. Future releases will feature different players.

Paige’s career spanned between the 1920s and 1940s. During that time, he played a total of seven seasons for the Kansas City Monarchs.

The beer chosen for Paige’s rollout is an American-style Pilsner, which was chosen for its popularity during Paige’s baseball career. The brewery described the beer as a two-row barley, with a hint of flaked corn and a light floral aroma.

The new beers from the Negro Leagues Celebration series hit Kansas City shelves this week, The Pitch reported. The second series release will be in September.
