A Kansas City woman died late Tuesday night after a single-vehicle crash in Cass County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and East 241st Street, a state trooper wrote in a crash report.

The vehicle left the right side of the roadway while headed north on Prospect when the driver struck a bridge, sending the vehicle airborne. The vehicle then overturned and came to rest in a creek, the report said.

The driver, identified by police as 40-year-old Michelle Borst of Kansas City, was pronounced dead at Belton Regional Medical Center early Wednesday morning. A 25-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries.

The crash was investigated by MSHP with assistance by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
