Brittany Matthews chose to wear Versace, the Italian fashion house known as much for street style as bold high fashion, when she wed Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
She also used Kim Kardashian’s party planner, Mindy Weiss of Los Angeles, who posted a photo of the happy couple on her Instagram.
The bride tagged stylist Mimi Cuttrell, Versace and designer Donatella Versace in an Instagram post of the Saturday wedding in Hawaii.
The custom gown was classic Versace — form-fitting and sexy, hugging the physical trainer’s body and showing off her toned abs with well-placed vertical cut-outs in the corset-style bodice. The bustier and straps that crisscrossed in the back appeared to be embellished with crystals.
A tiered train, also edged with sparkle, and a cathedral-length veil of romantic tulle clipped into her long, beach-wavy hair, added drama in the back.
For his wedding day hair, Mahomes stuck with his favored, regular barber — DeJuan Bonds, owner of Purple Label barber shop in Overland Park. Bonds posted an Instagram story photo of himself cutting the quarterback’s hair, calling it “game day.”
Versace, who has described her label as “daring, unapologetic and unmistakable,” is a go-to designer for celebrities on the red carpet. She designed the unforgettable green, jungle print gown Jennifer Lopez wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards that Versace jokingly said “broke the internet - twice.”
Actresses Angelina Jolie and Elizabeth Hurley have worn Versace wedding gowns. Versace made one of three dresses tennis star Serena Williams wore when she married in 2017.
And Donatella Versace is designing the wedding gown for Britney Spears’ upcoming nuptials, the singer has said.

One piece of Mahomes’ wedding day finery brought out the armchair fashion reviewers. Mahomes wore a pair of bedazzled loafers — without socks — with his gray wedding suit. The look was fresh, young and appropriate, given the beach setting.
But some social media reviewers thought the star quarterback would “regret those shoes someday.”
They were reportedly Christian Louboutin loafers, which no one should ever regret.
