Drive slow or stay home, KC: Snow may keep up all afternoon, making roads slick
The National Weather Service and the Missouri Department of Transportation are urging drivers to take caution while on the road Thursday. Light snow is expected to continue in the afternoon and the temperatures aren’t going to reach the snow’s melting point for the rest of the day.
The roads are wet and will continue to freeze as the day goes on because of the low temperatures. MoDOT and NWS are also asking drivers to leave space for road crews so they can treat the roads. The City of Kansas City has trucks salting the roads all day.
The snow is expected to stop at around 5 p.m., according to the NWS. Kansas City is predicted to receive around 1-2 inches of snow, significantly less than what the city got the last time it snowed.
