A giant concrete slab shut down part of Highway 169 just north of the river in Kansas City, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.

The estimated 50,000-pound slab fell off a truck traveling north on Highway 169 at Highway 9 near Clay County, the department said around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The Missouri Department of Transportation asked drivers to find an alternate route until the road was cleared.

A pair of heavy tow trucks responded and the road was reopened around 3:30 p.m.
