Kansas City under winter weather advisory Tuesday with freezing rain possible
A winter weather advisory has been issued for the Kansas City area until noon Tuesday as freezing rain and wintry precipitation are possible in the early morning hours.
The National Weather Service in Kansas City is advising drivers to take caution, drive slow and allow extra time to reach their locations.
“Road conditions are starting to deteriorate as temperatures continue to fall,” the weather service tweeted. “Bridges and overpasses will be first to ice up.”
An arctic cold front made its way from the north down into the area. Several surrounding counties around Kansas City were also included in the advisory.
The cold front will keep temperatures below freezing until Saturday, the weather service said. Light snow is possible Wednesday and Thursday.
Kansas City saw warm weather over the holiday weekend, with temperatures reaching the high 60s Monday.
The warm weather came days after a snow storm dumped nine inches of snow across parts of the metro area.
