Hold off on bringing your trash out. Kansas City, Kansas, is delaying pickup because of snow
Due to the incoming winter weather, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, announced that trash pickup will be delayed one day this week, starting on Wednesday.
This follows the City of Kansas City announcing that their trash pickup services are canceled for the week, as they shift gears to prepare to plow the roads.
The new schedule for KCK is below:
If your scheduled pickup day is Wednesday, place your items at the curb or street edge on Thursday.
If your trash is picked up on Thursday, place your items at the curb or street edge on Friday.
If your normal day is Friday, place your items at the curb or street edge on Saturday.
The city is also asking residents to prepare for multiple delays in pickup because of the pending snowstorm.
“This is shaping up to be a very challenging storm,” Dave Reno, Public Works’ community engagement officer, said in a statement. “Although we do not anticipate further delays this week, residents should prepare for the possibility of their trash and recycling collection being pushed back another day later this week. Public Works extends its thanks to everyone for their patience during this storm – keep your eyes on the Unified Government’s website and social media for updates as we move forward.”
