23-year-old motorcyclist killed in rush hour crash with SUV in Olathe

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a rush hour crash with an SUV Thursday morning in southern Olathe, a police spokesman said.

The motorcycle and SUV collided shortly after 8 a.m. on West 167th Street near Lone Elm Road, said Sgt Joel Yeldell, a spokesman for the Olathe Police Department.

Arriving officers found the motorcyclist unresponsive. Emergency workers pronounced him dead at the scene. He had been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Yeldell said.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.
