One person killed in two-vehicle crash on Northeast Woods Chapel Road in Lee’s Summit
Update: Tracy L. Bailey, 59, of Blue Springs died in the crash, police said Tuesday afternoon.
One person was killed and another sustained minor injuries when two vehicles collided on Northeast Woods Chapel Road in Lee’s Summit late Monday, police said.
The crash occurred about 10:45 p.m. Monday on Woods Chapel Road at Interstate 470, according to Sgt. Chris Depue, a spokesman for the Lee’s Summit Police Department.
The initial investigation revealed that a vehicle exiting from southbound I-470 struck a vehicle headed west on Woods Chapel Road. Both vehicles were heavily damaged, Depue said.
The driver of the vehicle on Woods Chapel Road was pronounced dead at the scene. The person’s name was being withheld until family could be notified, Depue said.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles at the time of the crash.
The Lee’s Summit Police Department’s traffic unit responded to the scene and will conduct a reconstruction of the crash and attempt to determine the factors that led up to the collision.
