This construction project could delay your trip home from Sunday night’s Chiefs game

Fans might want to consult a map to find an alternate way home from Sunday night’s Kansas City Chiefs football game against the Buffalo Bills.

Bridge work along Interstate 435 might cause delays for southbound traffic, the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Kansas City District warned.

Repairs are currently underway on the I-435 bridges over Gregory Boulevard and Oldham Parkway, which has led southbound lanes of the highway to be reduced to two lanes through that area.

“This lane reduction could cause delays in the area — especially during peak travel times, after events, and post-game travel from Truman Sports Complex,” said Lairyn McGregor, a spokesperson for MoDOT’s Kansas City district.

Drivers are being urged to find alternate routes when traffic is at its heaviest. Suggested alternatives include Missouri 350 highway, and Interstates 70 and 470.

Drivers are urged to be patient and considerate to other drivers. They are also urged to use the zipper merge and take turns at merge points.

To see potential impacts to traffic, drivers can review KC Scout traffic cameras at http://www.kcscout.net or consult the WAZE app which has real-time traffic information.
