Ample sunshine as Kansas City treated with another beautiful day in August

It’ll be another beautiful, dry day in the Kansas City area, according to FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“We’ll have ample sunshine, temperatures in the mid-80s which is just a little bit below average for this time of year, and low humidity remains in place again today,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star.

The downside is that the ragweed season has started, she said.

“Ragweed pollen is in the high category and it’s only going to get worse before it gets better,” Ritter said. “Mold counts are also in the high category.”

There’s a slight chance for rain Sunday morning, mainly north of Interstate 70 she said. Not everyone will see rain and those who do should consider themselves lucky because the extended forecast looks dry, Ritter said.

Temperatures will continue to warm, rising back to the upper 80s by this weekend, which is typical for this time of year in Kansas City.

“If you’re a fan of the summer heat, you’re really going to like the weekend into early next week forecast as we eventually make it back into the 90s,” said Ritter.
