Motorcyclist critically injured Monday evening in southeast Kansas City crash

A motorcyclist was critically injured Monday evening after colliding with a car in southeast Kansas City, police said.

The crash happened while the motorcyclist on a black Suzuki sport bike was traveling north about 5:20 p.m. on Food Lane, said Officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a spokeswoman for Kansas City police, in an email.

A silver Chevrolet Impala was headed west on East 118th Place. She told police that she stopped at the stop sign, looked both ways and then pulled across Food Lane, El-Ashkar said.

The two vehicles collided. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike as it struck the driver’s side of the Impala, El-Ashkar said.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. The driver and passenger of the Impala were not injured.
