Cooler highs, lower humidity expect in Kansas City, but fall pollen is building

The streak of unseasonably cool days will continue Tuesday in Kansas City as highs will be about five degrees below average along with lower humidity, said FOX4 meteorologist Karli Ritter.

“Later on today we are going to be talking about highs in the lower 80s; we’ll have low humidity,” said Ritter, who provides weather updates to The Star. “It should be really nice outside.”

It will also remain mostly dry for the remainder of the week, she said.

The downside, Ritter said, is that the ragweed allergy season is beginning. Ragweed pollen counts are in the moderate level and they will be climbing the next couple of days.

Highs for the week will slowly build the next few days as well, going from the low 80s to the upper 80s by the weekend. Overnight lows, however, will remain in the upper 50s to low 60s, before eventually climbing to the upper 60s by the weekend.

The average high for this time of year in Kansas City is 88 degrees while the average low is 67 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.

With a new moon expected over Kansas City along with mostly clear skies, it’ll be a good night for star gazing, the weather service said on Twitter.
