Police investigate drowning after finding woman’s body in Terrace Lake in Kansas City

Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was pulled from Terrace Lake early Thursday in south Kansas City as a drowning, a police spokesman said.

Police responded shortly after 5:45 a.m. to the lake near Red Bridge Road and Greenbrier Lane after a caller to 911 reported seeing the body in the lake, said Capt. David Jackson, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.

Arriving officers found the woman’s body floating about 10 feet from the shore of the bank. Emergency medical workers pronounced her dead at the scene, Jackson said.

The woman’s identity has not been released.
