Fatal wreck investigated after man found dead next to damaged car Wednesday in KCK

Kansas City, Kansas, police are investigating after a man was found dead next to a damaged car late Wednesday night.

Kansas City, Kansas, police received a report about an injury accident in the 2800 block of North 38th Street just before midnight Wednesday, according to a news release posted on Twitter Thursday. When officers arrived,they found a 30- to 40-year-old man dead next to an unoccupied vehicle.

The vehicle was damaged, said Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department spokesman Officer Dustin Dierenfeldt. He said he could not provide details on the nature of the damage because of the investigation.

No other people were located near the car, Dierenfeldt said.

The crash is being investigated by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau as well as the Traffic Support Unit.
