Johnson County on Monday reported its eighth presumed positive case of the new coronavirus.
That’s up from Sunday’s total of six cases of COVID-19, the disease’s official name, since the outbreak began.
Officials released no additional information about the seventh and eighth cases.
On Sunday, county health officials announced the sixth case, a man in his 50s who tested positive on a preliminary basis. He was doing well in isolation at home and his family was quarantined, according to the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment.
As of Sunday, it was not known where the man’s infection originated.
Eleven people in Kansas, including eight in Johnson County, have tested positive. Six cases have been reported in Missouri. None of those cases have been in Kansas City.
