Westbound I-70 reopened after vehicle fire near Kansas Speedway

Westbound Interstate 70 has been reopened near the Kansas Speedway after a vehicle caught fire Thursday afternoon.

The incident was reported about 3:20 p.m at I-70 and Interstate 435, according to the KC Scout traffic service.

A traffic camera in the area showed a vehicle damaged by fire. Fire trucks and other emergency vehicles were at the scene.

Over two hours later, all of the westbound lanes of the interstate were reopened for traffic while the right shoulder remained closed.
