One person in critical condition after fire at Overland Park apartment complex

A woman was transported to a hospital in critical condition after being rescued by the Overland Park Fire Department Monday night.

The fire was reported just before 9 p.m. at the Four Seasons Apartments in the 9500 block of West 87th Street.

When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the apartment building and had reports of a victim still inside.

The department said they “went into rescue mode” and the woman was rescued from a second-story apartment unit.

The fire was under control in 10 minutes and the damage was contained to the unit where it started, according to the department.

One police officer was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross was contacted to assist the two adults and three children who were displaced.

Details about the cause of the fire have not been released yet.
