Cause unknown for Olathe power outage affecting homes and businesses

Update: The outage was cleared by 2:10 in the afternoon.

Evergy crews are working Saturday to identify the cause of a power outage affecting several homes and businesses in Olathe.

The outage, which was first reported around 10:40 a.m. Saturday, starts just west of Pflumm Road and ends just east of Strang Line Road on 119th Street. It extends north about four blocks and south two blocks.

Crews have not yet identified the cause but expect power to be restored to the area around 2:45 p.m., according to Gina Penzig, an Evergy spokeswoman.

A total of 1,060 customers were affected by the outage, according to Evergy’s outage map.

Initially the outage included a number of area businesses including the entire Avignon shopping center off 119th Street which includes various restaurants and small shops.

The outage was cleared by 2:10 in the afternoon.
