Northland sees four highway crashes, two involving semi trucks, in 30 minutes Saturday

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to four wrecks in the Northland within 30 minutes around noon Saturday according to agency spokesman Andrew Bell.

Two of the crashes involved semi-trucks, and two could have led to injuries according to a tweet from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to the tweet a semi-truck and another vehicle collided at Interstate 29 and Cookingham Drive in Kansas City. Injuries in that crash were unknown as of 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Injuries were also possible in a three-car crash on I-29 near Missouri 92 in Platte City.

The nature and extent of injuries were not available at the time of publication.

A semi-truck was blocking one lane of southbound Interstate 435 near Missouri 152 Saturday afternoon.

No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Oak Grove, Bell said.

Details regarding what led to the crashes have not yet been released.

Between midnight and 2 pm. Saturday Missouri Highway Patrol Troop A, which covers the Kansas City Area, worked 45 non-injury crashes and four injury crashes according to a post on Twitter.

Highways on both sides of the state line are partially or completely covered by snow and ice in the KC area according to the Kansas and Missouri department’s of transportation.

The road conditions Saturday are dangerous as 2 to 4 inches of snow continues to fall on the metro area after a layer of ice was left on roadways overnight.
