Pedestrian critically injured after being struck by car in Kansas City, North
A pedestrian was critically injured Wednesday evening when he was hit by a car as he was crossing Northwest Prairie View Road in Kansas City, North, police said.
The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. just north of Northwest 81st Street on Northwest Prairie View Road, according to Kansas City Police Department.
Prior to the crash, the pedestrian was seen crossing Northwest Prairie View and then the southbound lanes of Interstate 29. When he reached the chain link fence, he returned back across I-29.
As the pedestrian tried to cross back over Northwest Prairie View, he was hit by a silver Ford Taurus that was headed north. The force of the crash caused the pedestrian to strike the windshield of the car, police said.
He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver’s daughter in the passenger seat was hit by windshield glass that caused a minor injury. The driver and her other daughter, in the backseat, were not injured.
