Woman dies after being struck by car at Linwood, Poplar in Kansas City, police say

A Kansas City woman died from her injuries after she was struck by a car while crossing the street Thursday, according to police.

The victim has been identified by police as Carrie M. Davis, 63.

The crash happened at Linwood Boulevard and Poplar Avenue in Kansas City around 3:40 p.m. Thursday.

According to an earlier statement from Kansas City police, a westbound car struck a female pedestrian, who was crossing the road from south to north.

She was taken to a hospital and was reported to be in critical condition Thursday night. Police said they were notified on Friday that the victim died at the hospital.

The driver remained at the crash scene Thursday and provided a statement to police. The driver was released pending further investigation.
