Two dead in Cass County mobile home fire Friday are identified as father and son
Cass County authorities have identified a father and son who died Friday in a mobile home fire in Strasburg.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said the men, James A. Garrett, 78, and his son Dennis W. Garrett, 50, died inside the home.
The fire was reported just after 4:10 a.m. at a single wide trailer in the 18000 block of South Shimel Road in rural Cass County. The trailer was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived.
One person escaped the blaze. Investigators found Garrett and his son inside the trailer. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal, Pleasant Hill Fire Department and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
