Motorcyclist killed after thrown from bike, struck by semi in Kansas City
A motorcyclist died early Tuesday after being thrown from his motorcycle during a crash and then struck by a tractor-trailer on the southeast side of Kansas City’s downtown loop.
The crash occurred shortly before 4:20 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 70 near the split with southbound U.S. 71.
Investigators determined that the motorcyclist had hit the concrete barrier just west of The Paseo exit and was thrown from his motorcycle. A short time later, an eastbound semi hit the motorcyclist, according to police.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the motorcyclist has not been released.
The crash forced eastbound I-70 out of downtown Kansas City to be closed for most of the morning’s rush hour while police investigated.
