Eastbound I-70 reopens after motorcyclist killed in crash with semi near downtown KC

Update: A new story has been posted about this wreck, with more details from police. The motorcyclist reportedly was ejected from the motorcycle before being hit by the truck.

Eastbound Interstate 70 on the southeast side of Kansas City’s downtown loop reopened late in Tuesday morning’s rush hour after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a semitractor-trailer.

The crash occurred shortly before 4:20 a.m. where I-70 splits from southbound U.S. 71.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released. Details of the crash were not immediately available from police. The Kansas City Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit was investigating the crash.

Fox4KC reported that the motorcycle was stopped along side of the road when it was hit by the semi.

The highway remained closed for about four hours.
