The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Meeting

11:00 a.m. — Holmes Hall, Foxwood Springs Living Center, 1500 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore

Cynthia Ammerman of the Cass County Historical Society will talk about interesting aspects of the county’s history. An optional lunch will be served at noon and costs $12. April 10

Cass County Civil War Roundtable

7 p.m. — Pearson Hall 400 E. Mechanic, Harrisonville

Come and learn about Cass County history with us. Our speaker is Angela Schear. She will be sharing her family story of her third-great grandmother, Abby Gibbons, who was a Union nurse in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia during the Civil War.

“Homeschool Help” Presentation

6:30 p.m. — Cass County Public Library, Harrisonville Branch, 400 E. Mechanic St., Harrisonville

April Nouse, an experienced homeschool mom, will lead the presentation on using library resources to teach your children at home. Among the issues discussed are what assets the library has to supplement homeschooling, additional resources and support in the area, choosing a curriculum as well as Missouri homeschool laws. Belton Police Self-Defense Class

6-9 p.m. — Wrestling room, Belton High School, 801 W. North Ave., Belton

With April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Belton Police Department is offering a self-defense class for anyone age 13 and older. An RSVP is requested for those interested. For more information contact Victim Advocate Elizabeth Crow at ecrow@beltonpd.org or 816-348-4430.

Cass County Sheriff’s Self-Defense Class

9 a.m. to noon — Wrestling room, Harrisonville High School, 1504 E. Elm St., Harrisonville

With April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office is offering a self-defense class for anyone age 13 and older. Registration is required. For more information contact Victim Advocate Crystal Beal at 537@cassmosheriff.org or 816-380-8319
