Erin Little is back on local TV.

After leaving her KMBC morning meteorologist job in January 2017, Little announced she was hired as the director of communications for the Shawnee Mission School District. But in December, Little submitted her resignation.

On Thursday, she joined the KCTV5 StormTrack5 weather team.

"I am so excited to be back delivering Kansas City's weather," Little said in a story posted on the station's website. "I love when people tell me that I'm part of their morning routine, because it's not just about being able to tell someone the weather, but really having them to prepare for the day in an easy-to-understand way."

KCTV5/KSMO Vice President and General Manager Chuck Poduska said Little will bring energy and warmth to the morning show.

"She’ll be a familiar face to those who followed her (on KMBC) and she’ll make a strong connection to newer Kansas City viewers," Poduska said. "We couldn’t be prouder to welcome her to the KCTV5/KSMO family."

News Director Scott Levy said Little's experience will be invaluable in the morning.

"I believe Kansas City viewers will welcome her into their homes once again," he said.

Little is a Lee's Summit native with a degree from the University of Missouri in atmospheric science. She was a KMBC meteorologist for 12 years, from 2004 to 2007 and from 2008-2017.

In a tweet, Little says: "I am so very grateful to have the opportunity to do what I love again."
